Dunville Park was a gift to the city of Belfast from Robert G Dunville in 1891. 2090 shrubs and plants were purchased for the opening.
The Dunville family owned Royal Irish Distilleries on the Grosvenor Road, a major local employer until its closure in 1936.
Dunville Park Fountain
The Victorian style fountain in Dunville Park was a major attraction when it was installed in 1892. Made from terracotta clay, the unusual choice of material is responsible for its distinctive colour.
